Music and art are natural allies so for rocker Kurt Vile’s “Wakin On A Pretty Daze” album he enlisted Espo to lend visuals to his songs. Backed by a mechanical cacophony of trains passing overhead, this brief documentary looks at how the two teamed up to bring the album’s cover art to life.
The resulting mural features imagery based on different lyrics Vile used throughout his Matador Records release. At one point Vile, trying to be about that graff life, takes up a can and let’s just say his handstyle isn’t quite up to par with his musical chops. Steve Powers and others can rest easy.
