Wale Calls Out Harry Reid on Exploiting Race

The DC native takes a political stand

Wale put Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on blast via Twitter Friday for pressuring the Washington Redskins to change their team name while “mak[ing] a bigger name” for himself. The rapper reminded his 3.6 million Twitter followers that Harry Reid said Obama was only a great politician because he was a “light-skinned” political leader and an African-American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.”

Reid wants to change the Redskins name due to its derogatory connotation towards Native Americans, saying “They’re not mascots – they’re human beings. I have 22 tribes in Nevada and they’re insulted by this cavalier attitude about what they’re being called.”

Reid is one of the 50 United States senators who sent an email to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to urge him to pressure the Redskins to change their name. Read Wale’s tweets below.
