Vince Staples stays true blue with his new joint “Blue Suede,” an ode to making it in the face of adversity and acquiring Air Jordan 3s in a desirable hue of blue.
This isn’t like Nelly’s “Air Force Ones” or some DJ Khaled-esque red bottoms plug, it’s about coming up in the Wild Wild West, hoping to make it out of the muck and the mire. Detailing what life is like and touching on everything from dirty cops, dirty broads, and the unforgiving streets, Staples paints a grisly portrait. In the West red and blue have come to be known as opposing forces, and the same holds true for Staples’ universe; all he wants “is the Jordans with the blue suede” and to “outlive them red roses.”
This jammie jam is a certified West Coast banger with the 808s booming and synthesizer delivering the familiar rising and falling screech we’ve come to love from Left Coast classics.
