Musician, visual artist, and music video director Woodkid, aka Yoann Lemoine, is combining his multifaceted talents once again in the video for “I Love You.” For his third single, the French singer/songwriter helmed the camera once more to deliver his dramatic, fantastical worlds in cinematic greyscale.
We find a church congregation headed by an organ player whose keys unravel the tale of an embattled man traversing a far-reaching black and white landscape, alone, before being engulfed by the earth beneath him. There isn’t much of the 2D side-scrolling storytelling that have set apart Lemoine’s previous videos for “Iron,” and “Run Boy Run,” but “I Love You” still has that distinct retro film feel with a modern edge.
Woodkid’s debut album, The Golden Age, is due out Mar. 18 on Green United Music.
