Kilo Kish isn’t your typical hip-hop artist. In fact, it might be a little too reductive to even call her a “hip-hop artist” because her work, though rooted in music, expands beyond the confines of genre and even medium.
Her recently released K+ project is much more than just a mixtape/album. Let Kish tell it, it’s a collaborative art project that includes both audio and visual elements. She debuted K+ as an experiential art installation at a theater in a school in the Lower East Side of Manhattan last week. While the music played, video of herself and her collaborators in the creative process was projects on to a wall of her notes and printed lyrics.
