VIDEO: Gasface goes LOOKIN4GALT in New Documentary

This year rockumentary fans got “Searching For Sugar Man,” a movie about some South African fans who set out to find Rodriguez, an obscure musician whose music unknowingly became part of the soundtrack of South African youth at one time. Now Gasface has done a “Searching For Sugar Man” for hip-hop heads and cratediggers in the form of the film LOOKIN4GALT” which debuted on Complex today.

The film follows the French documetarians/music nerds Nico Venacio and Mathieu Rochet (Gasface) as they fly to New York in hopes of tracking down the elusive and reclusive Galt MacDermot, man who wrote the music for the super successful musical “Hair” and whose music’s been sampled by DJ Scratch, Pete Rock, Run DMC, Madlib and Oh No just to name a few. Along the way they chat with beat luminaries like Prince Paul, Pete Rock, PE publicist Bill Adler and even 50 Cent’s DJ Whoo Kid. But do they actually find Galt MacDermot at any point? You’ll just have to watch to find out.
