Earl Sweatshirt’s back from a hiatus with his second set of visuals off his highly-anticipated debut commercial release Doris. Having given us a dark and dingy setting with his last video for “Chum”, the youngest member of Odd Future sticks with the murky feel for “Whoa” which features him and his crew lampin’ in a trailer park.
The cut encompasses the low-fi drums, raucous rhymes, and high energy that the posse was originally known for and features OF ringleader, Tyler, the Creator, chanting on the chorus. Earl brings the gritty rhymes from the get go when he states “Grab mittens who have to spit blizzardous/ Actually flick cigarette ash at bitch niggas/ Harassment, eight nickels of hash, delay quick, and then dash/ to Saint Nicholas pad to taste venison.”
Be on the look out for Earl’s Doris later this year and check out him and Blake Anderson on the cover of Mass Appeal issue #52.
