“Your ship looked like sh-t, so we painted it.” So goes the slogan for the “Black Duke” project, from a crew of international artists who transformed an abandoned ship into an unorthodox surface for their craft. Known as the “Duke Of Lancaster,” the former seafaring vessel got several fresh coats of spray paint, an accompanying soundtrack and a new lease on life as one of North Wales’ finest artistic showcases.

That’s all thanks to DugDug, a street art collective who’ve repurposed the decommissioned cruise liner into a tourist attraction. Despite objections from local officials, artists Kiwie, Mr Zero, Fin DAC and others have managed to shine a little light on Wales without acting clownish on camera.
