The UFO at BAM and the Brooklyn Shelf Life Project
A UFO has landed, and it's cargo will probe your mind.
Not that anyone should care any more about the end of the world prediction by the Mayans, but the UFOs must feel a little left out of the conversation. Real alien sightings have taken a back seat, until now with the artistic manifestation of these other-wordly beings in “The Beginning if the End.” The new exhibit by artists UFO 907 and W. Thomas Porter is now showing at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. For 17 years, the Brooklyn based UFO 907 painted his signature character across all parts of New York City. Last week, the UFO sculpture made of wood and steel made its debut as part of Brooklyn Shelf Life at BAM. Each of the artists involved in the summer-long project will install newspaper boxes that will serve as distribution locations for their curated work for Show Paper. Some of the other collaborations are Cassius Foluler & Faust who use the boxes by The El Especialito newspaper, and Leon Reid IV & Noah Sparkes placing a human head with eyes and ears.
