Up and coming Brooklyn based filmmaker, Nef Prezz recently released her trailer for her twenty-minute documentary short, Check One: I am OTHER. The project documents the everyday lives of five unworldly individuals like Flatbush Zombies, exploring what it means to be and what makes them “OTHER.”
The PG County, Maryland native cites her mentor, Pharrell Williams’ “I am OTHER” campaign as a major influence. In fact, prior to releasing the trailer, Nef timidly messaged Skateboard P asking to review some of her work; P responded, “Send it.” After viewing, P expressed how dope the project was, inspiring Nef to drop it.
This is only the beginning for Miss Nef; the production crew consisted of “three broke ass film students who wanted to change a life.” This DIY product may turn out to be a cult classic, receiving kudos from Pharrell and Va$htie is pretty rad for her directorial debut. The release date for the final product is still TBD.
