There comes a time when SMH, or even SMFH, isn’t enough to express my discontent with the fuckery of pop culture. Today is one of those days. While some of us are worried about the economy, the justice system in Florida, or just being able to pay rent, other people are concerned with Beyoncé’s haircut.
Why did she get the haircut? Does Jay Z like it? How does the fan feel about this? Did she get the idea from Miley Cyrus? While all of these questions are ridiculous, I’d like to focus on the latter.
Pop culture has an obvious fascination with Miley, and this fascination has become even more visible in hip hop. From Jay Z shouting on Ms. Cyrus on “Somewhere In America,” to Big Sean letting her take the main stage in his new music video “Fire,” it’s apparent that rappers love Miley Cyrus. However, to credit her as the inspiration for every move someone makes is just absurd, and the people of Twitter agree. They took to their timelines to thank Miley for her many “contributions” to America. So without further ado, here are “Top Ten Tweets” of the week – the #ThanksMiley edition.
