Through the Lens: Gucci Mane
"Through the Lens" is Mass Appeal's new photo series, in which we give folks a behind-the-scenes look at their favorite artists via the photographers that work with them on a daily basis. This week, Atlanta-based photographer Cam Kirk shares six never-before-seen photos of Gucci Mane.
The picture above was taken in Augusta, GA one of my first times meeting Gucci Mane. I was hired to film the show for Young Scooter and Gucci Mane was his surprise guest at the concert. I was able to get this picture backstage as we waited for the show to begin.
This picture was taken in Miami, FL on Gucci Mane’s tour bus. This was our first night in Miami as we were down there for the Young Scooter’s Colombia video shoot. I caught this candid photo of Gucci lighting up just before we entered Hit Factory Studios.
In the Streets
This picture was also taken in Miami on the set of Young Scooter’s Colombia. There was a Lambo scene and I was able to catch a behind the scenes shot of Gucci stepping out of this dope orange Lamborghini.
Behind the Scenes
This picture was taken on set of Gucci Mane’s Shooters video shoot. The intensity in his face makes this photo one of my favorite shots out of the series of photos I was able to get that night. I used another photo from this night for Gucci Mane’s Trap House III album cover. These series of photos are probably my most famous photos to date.
In the Studio
This picture was taken at Gucci Mane’s Brick Factory Studios about a month before he was last arrested. Me and my bro Metro Boomin would go to his studio often around that time and lock in and work with him. I remember we watched 2013 NBA Finals with him. Gucci and Metro bet $500 on the game and Gucci lost betting on the Spurs. This particular picture was taken the day before; Gucci asked me to come inside the booth with him and get some footage of him recording a new track. I took this photo in between bars.’
