The Underachievers “Chrysalis”

New Underachievers? Yay or Nay?

The Lords of Flatbush, aka The Underachivers, release a new track titled “Chrysalis.” The Brooklyn duo, now on their “The Eyes of the World Tour” along side Denzel Curry and Dillon Cooper, rose to fame with their mixtapes Indigoism, and The Lords of Flatbush back in 2013, and since then the group has been working on their debut album, The Cellar Door: Terminus Ut Exordium, set to drop on May 13.

Like all great rappers, not every track released will be a hit. Their new track “Chrysalis” isn’t as forceful as “Herb Shuttles,” or as effortlessly informative as “Gold Soul Theory,” but as newer artists the group has plenty of time to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Although it’s difficult to absorb the lyrics behind the track on the first few listens, the song does hold an upbeat tone with a whirling instrumental, accompanied by a repetitive violin sample produced by Death Tarot.
