Zhangye-Danxia2

Blurring the line between the real and the imagined is the curious landscape of Zhangye Danxia. Located in the Gansu region of China, the color-striped landscape offers visitors a  surreal look at the majesty that is Mother Earth. Here are a few enhanced shots of what the it looks like. No, you’re not tripping on any hallucinogens, the coloring is actually caused by sediment layers that have settled over 20 million years and its 100% real! Check out more of these images via Chinese photographer Melinda’s Flickr stream.
