When you’ve been in the game as long as The Roots have, you have to take get creative with your sound; explore new collaborations and push the boundaries of your career. Which is why a joint-album with English singer-songwriter Elvis Costello makes so much sense. Wise Up Ghost comes out on September 17, but in the meantime, you can kick back with Elvis and the leader of The Roots crew, Questlove, as they play the album’s first single, “Walk Us Uptown,” on vinyl. Questo has described the sound of the album as, “I went stark and dark on the music, Elvis went HAM on some ole Ezra Pound shit.” As far as consistently great music goes, The Roots are at that top spot.
