“The Arsenio Hall Show” Cancelled After Only One Season
Late-night line-up now whiter than ever!
It appears that Arsenio Hall’s late-night comeback was sweet, but oh so short lived. After only a single season, The Arsenio Hall Show has been cancelled due to low ratings. Hall commented that he was, “gratified for the year we’ve had and proud of the show we created.” The show is currently in reruns and will not return for any new episodes.
This is not just a loss for music (in only a year Hall managed to host an insane musical line-up of Prince, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator, Danny Brown, A$AP Rocky, Chance the Rapper, ScHoolboy Q and Death), but a loss for diversity in late-night television. The late-night line-up of Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman (soon to be replaced by Stephen Colbert), and Jon Stewart has never looked less diverse. With Chelsea Lately set to end in August late-night is looking very much like an all-white boys club.
