Tevin Campbell Reboots Career at Essence Music Festival

We need to talk, Tevin...

Teenage New Jack singing sensation Tevin Campbell sought to reboot his career at Essence Music Festival this year with a performance of some new hits, as well as classics such as “Round and Round” and “Break It Down.”

The performance took something of a bizarre turn when Campbell performed his hit “Can We Talk.” Rather than encouraging the audience to sing along, Campbell repeatedly shushed them saying, “Let me sing my song!” Listen, Tevin, we wish you all the luck in the world with your career, but telling your fans to shh during your set? Well, that ain’t what dazzling careers are built on. Watch the video of Campbell’s bizarre performance above and relive the good old days below.

Tevin Campbell wasn’t the only one stunning the crowds at the Essence Music Festival yesterday. During Nile Rodgers’ set, Prince was brought out to perform an extra special cover version of David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.” Watch the clip below.
