SZA, the young songstress who was signed to Top Dawg Entertainment less than a year ago, took the time to chat with Billboard about her new album Z (dropping April 8th), as well as her thoughts on the being the only woman signed to TDE. When asked about her adjustment to being the only girl on the team, she said:
“I’m like this random girl from a small town and I annunciate all my words and I wear dirty Chucks and my hair is never combed; I don’t think they knew what to make of me,” SZA says. “At first, I think they looked at me like an alien or something. ‘Your music is weird, you’re weird, but we like you.’”
Not quite a tough spot to be in, seeing as how she continues to release music that is a clear indicator of her drive and artistic vision, with much support from TDE.
