This song was crazy because it was recorded in this classic Hyde St. studio in the tender loin section of San Fran. I stayed at the Phoenix Hotel and had to walk of blocks of hell to the session. Everything from open air drug dealing/using, to territorial pimpin’. The hood was literally the back drop to the music, the same way that the track sounded inside the studio, is the same way the street looked outside the studio. And the walls were thick with history — Me’shell and I could feel the energy in the room every moment of those sessions.
