After releasing tracks like “Swangin‘,” “A-Wax” and “NineteenEighty7,” Stalley lets loose his much anticipated mixtape, Honest Cowboy, in its entirety. The mixtape consists of ten total tracks with features from Scarface, ScHoolboy Q, amongst others as well as production from DJ Quik (who provided the mixing for the entire project), Cardo, Rashad, Terrace Martin, S1, Black Diamond and longtime collaborators the Block Beataz.
This is the first official release from the native Ohioan since last year’s Savage Journey to the American Dream. Honest Cowboy is both an extension and a marked progression from his previous work. The mixtape showcases Stalley’s lyricism, where he waxes poetic on his growth as an MC, his position in the rap game and the conditions that made him who he is today. Honest Cowboy is a tape decisively Midwest in its nature and its vibe. Tracks like “Feel the Bass” and “Cup Inside a Cup” (not to mention “Swangin’” which features a verse from the indefatigable Scarface) are practically begging you to get into the whip and SWERVE. Honest Cowboy is a promising example of what the MMG-affiliated artist is capable of creating.
