Rhythm Roulette With Ski Beatz

On this episode of Rhythm Roulette we’re joined by legendary producer Ski Beatz. From crafting classic tracks like Jay-Z’s “Dead Presidents” and “Feelin’ It,” to helping shape entire projects like Curren$y’s debut album Pilot Talk, Ski Beatz has been delivering top notch productions for over 20 years.

After making a quick pit stop in the BX to put Ski through the ceremonial blindfolded record selection, we headed over to his studio where he ran through each record – eventually finding some gold on Argybargy by The Squeeze.

Utilizing his Native Instruments Maschine, bass guitar, and Korg MS-20 synthesizer Ski Beatz banged out one of our favorite beats yet. The obscure drum roll, British vocal sample, and electric feel make it a winner. Be on the look out for more episodes in the future as well as new music from Ski.

Ski that was incredible. I really hope Rythm Roulette collects all of these beats made from the series and puts emcees behind them and then…….release a Rhythm Roulette album, mixtape or some kind of free download from this site. That was fire. Seems like he had a few nice samples to choose from there. I used to basically do this same thing without a blind fold in the dollar section of my local record store and would be LUCKY if I found a decent sample out of a dozen random records. These guys always seem to come up with something ill. I’d be interested in knowing if there are any of these where the producer had NOTHING to work with and the webisode got shelved…
