Run The Jewels Announce NYC Takeover and “Tag The Jewels”

If you haven’t been living under a rock, you already know Run The Jewels’ second project Run The Jewels 2 has been released. In celebration of the momentous occasion Killer Mike and El-P are hosting a number of fan appreciation events in New York City this week.

The events include a RTJ takeover at Rough Trade NYC on October 29, which will include an album play-though, a meet-and-greet, poster giveaways, and more. The first 20 attendees will also get passes for a private event at Nitehawk Cinema featuring a Q&A session with the group and Mass Appeal’s Sacha Jenkins, followed by a screening of The Warriors. Run The Jewels is also slated for a live performance on the Late Show With David Letterman, footage from which is set to air on Halloween, October 31.

In conjunction with the album release, Run The Jewels has announced “Tag The Jewels,” a worldwide art initiative featuring 30 artists from six continents who were invited to remix the album artwork on walls in Los Angeles, Jakarta, Chicago, Paris, Sao Paolo, Lagos, Aukland, Warsaw, New Delhi, and more. The project was curated by the FatCap Agency, and photographs of the art pieces can be found here. (Feature image of this post by Owen Dippiee of New Zealand).
