Deejaying as a performance-based art wouldn’t be where it is today if not for the major level theatrics of the X-Ecutioners. No elaborate lights, no crazy foam or confetti falling from the ceiling, the X-Ecutioners, led by the late great DJ Roc Raida, Rob Swift, Total Eclipse and Mista Sinisa captured the audience’s attention from start to finish. The loss of Roc Raida over two years ago left a void in their DJ crew, in hip-hop and most importantly, the art of turntablism. So we salute Raida’s dear friend and collaborator, Rob Swift for commemorating the legacy of Raida, the Grand Master of turntablism on a tribute album entitled, Roc For Raida. Swift says about Raida’s influence:
“When you think about it, Raida is still here. His presence surrounds me and you everyday. Each time I turn my 1200s on in my studio I’m reminded of the countless hours we spent practicing. Perfecting our skills! Hence, “Roc for Raida”, my tribute to my partner, my best friend, my brother!”
Respect the architects. Bump this exclusive preview of the album below. RIP Grandmaster Roc Raida.
