Questlove, the leader of the Roots crew, stopped by “The Daily Show” last night to talk about his new memoir, “Mo’ Meta Blues.” Part autobiography, part tastemaker’s insight, part musical anthology; the book features tremendous anecdotes about Questo about the time he went rollerskating with Prince, why he’s traumatized by Curtis Mayfield’s “Freddie’s Dead,” and how an episode of the Cosby show influenced hip hop, among others.
John Oliver, who is standing in for host Jon Stewart while he is on hiatus this summer to direct a movie, kicks the interview off by complimenting Questlove’s bowtie, which he unsurprisingly says he bought in Brooklyn. It comes from designer Wonder Lee, who fashions bow ties and glasses out of objects like legos and comic books. The style is fresh, and reminiscent of the Dee and Ricky line of accessories.
Catch the interview above and be sure to grab that “Mo’ Meta Blues,” in stores now.
