PREMIERE: LIKE (of Pac Div) “Seasons”

A wavering instrumental evocative of footwork and chillwave without adhering to the archetypes of either genre.

While LIKE first garnered attention as one third of Pac Div, the California native has since stepped out of the booth to showcase his skills behind the boards. From earning a GRAMMY nomination for his work on Kendrick Lamar’s “Sing About Me, Dying of Thirst” to lacing Anderson .Paak’s cuffing season anthem “Room In Here,” it’s safe to say he’s found success as a producer as well as a solo artist.

Today, Mass Appeal premieres LIKE’s debut single, “Seasons,” a wavering instrumental evocative of footwork and chillwave without adhering to the archetypes of either genre. The downtempo vibe combats with the track’s whirlwind production, creating tension that finally resolves with a graceful piano outro wrapped in warm distortion. “Seasons” won’t appear on LIKE’s new instrumental album, Emeralds, but it suggests that the forthcoming 14-track project will showcase the producer’s sensibilities outside of sampled-based hip hop.

Emeralds arrives in March. In the meantime, enjoy “Seasons” above.
