Pharrell Catches Heat for Native American Headdress

If you thought that Pharrell’s recent surge of success meant that Skateboard P could do no wrong, think again. Williams’ recent cover for Elle UK features the artist wearing a Native American headdress, and people are not pleased.

Native American headdresses have been a no-no in the fashion world for quite some time now, as they are reserved for special cultural ceremonies or respected individuals in the community. Heavy criticism has since spawned a #NOThappy hashtag across social media networks.

In response, Pharrell released an apology, stating “I respect and honor every kind of race, background and culture. I am genuinely sorry.”
