After the news broke yesterday about Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s extremely racist remarks, Lil Wayne took to YouTube to share his advice on the matter.
Your first thought may be, “Why the fuck does it matter what Lil Wayne thinks?” Valid. However, what’s important to note is Weezy’s relationship with Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul. The two often refer to each other as brothers, and Wayne even revealed that Paul was one of the first people to visit him in the hospital after his near-fatal seizure.
Paul signed a five-year contract extension with the Clippers for $107 million in July and was elected president of the NBPA in August. Yesterday he issued the following statement:
“On behalf of the National Basketball Players Association, this is a very serious issue which we will address aggressively. We have asked Mayor Kevin Johnson to expand his responsibilities with the NBPA, to determine our response and our next steps. As players, we owe it to our teams and our fans to keep our focus on our game, the playoffs, and the drive to the Finals.”
While Lil Wayne’s video is first and foremost a “Fuck You!” to Donald Sterling, it also seems like an indirect message to his little bro. The Clippers are currently in the midst of a playoff battle against the Golden State Warriors, and take to the court today for Game 4 of the best-of-seven series. However, they are playing in Oakland and will be spared the additional pressure of dealing with this situation in front of their home fans, for what it’s worth. Regardless, it will be interesting to see if the players, especially Paul, take Wayne’s message to heart and choose not to suit up tonight.

By the way, the video is worth watching just for the attempt at a dramatic pan at the end. Hilarious.
