What’s worse than regular gossip? Gossip about Kendrick Lamar‘s new album release. No project is more highly anticipated than the follow up to Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city. It’s hard not to get sucked into the endless vortex of Internet lies about album releases, collaborations, and deals. Yet, once again, we’ve all been duped by the web. The United States Of A.L.A.R.M, the rumored name for his new album, doesn’t exist, but Kendrick does think that the album name is hard.
The truth about the recent gossip surrounding Lamar is pretty insightful to say the least. The young LA rapper admits that he did in fact purchase a home, as many websites have reported, but it isn’t the only piece of property he owns.
“The information that came out was kinda like twisted a little bit. I purchase spots but it’s not necessary just for me. I like to buy property, whether it’s apartments, whether it’s buildings, whether it’s houses, but I stay in a little small condo in L.A I can’t fake and front. I think people should invest their money in different aspects, rather than just for the moment.”
Kendrick also clears the air about the rumors surrounding the release date of his sophomore album:
“I couldn’t say man. I couldn’t give a false pretense on where I’m at.”
Kendrick goes on to highlighting his last experience with Maya Angelou, and the pressure of maintaining his king-like reign. What’s the moral of this story? Don’t trust the Internet. We’re still waiting on that joint Kendrick & J.Cole album!
