After bodying his 2015 BET Awards performance, Mass Appeal Issue 56 cover star Kendrick Lamar releases the music video for his standout Pharrell-produced jawn “Alright.” Directed by Colin Tilley and The Little Homies, the visual begins with Kendrick’s album-wide monologue narrating depictions of unrest, racial discrimination by police, and more. From there, we see the Black Hippy crew rolling around in a beat-up-ass car, previewing a new jawn before getting into the visual for “Alright.”
Once the video kicks into full gear, we find Kendrick literally floating through the streets, and even rapping upside at one point, channeling Pharcyde’s “Passing Me By” video. The final scene is worth watching, despite an abrupt cut. We don’t want to give away the ending, but know Kendrick took his time with Colin Tilley and The Little Homies to craft this jawn.
