He’s gone from painting on freight trains to creating clothing, toys, album covers and even cognac bottle but KAWS can finally say he made it because now he’s got his own Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon.
The Wall Street Journal broke the news today in a profile of the 37-year-old graff writer turned successful fine artist known as KAWS (né Brian Donnelly). Being able to float a balloon in the parade is quite an honor as Takashi Murakami, Jeff Koons, Tim Burton and Tom Otterness are the only other living artists to have done so in the past. Get a glimspe of KAWS’ 40-foot-long Companion at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Turkey Day, Nov. 22 in New York City or via live broadcast on NBC from 9 a.m. to noon.
