Watch JJ DOOM’s Split-Screen Video for “Guv’Nor”

Look closely, that's one DOOM in his new video, or is it?

For about two decades, the world has come to know the split personalities of DOOM through his long list of aliases—Zev Love X, Viktor Vaughn, King Geedorah, Metal Face, and Metal Fingers. Yet with all the albums under those numerous monikers or that combine his name with collaborators (Madvillain with Madlib, JJ DOOM with Jneiro Jarel), few of his videos encapsulate both sides of his multi-layered character into one. Ninian Doff, the director of “Guv’Nor” takes the trend of split screen videos, and tailors it exclusively for DOOM. If you’ve seen videos for Cibo Matto and Lauryn Hill, “Guv’Nor” actually sews up the gap creating a seamless visualization of what a split screen video was intended to look like. Watch it a few times, it’s worth it.

Heard that “Ello Guv’Nor” sample before? The eerie vocals on JJ DOOM’s record seems like they were inspired by Cartoon Network’s Regular Show, maybe even G.I. Joe’s Dreadknoks. Tell us what you think below in the comments.
