Jay Z surprised the world when he joined Instagram Saturday, posting a photo in tribute to Michael Jackson’s 47th birthday. The caption of the photo was an ominous one which read “Happy Birthday to the King! This may be my first and last post.” The legitimacy of the account was then verified by Atlantic Records executive Michael Kyser, who shared an image of Hov exploring Instagram and imploring fans to follow @Hovsince96.
The comment accompanying Jay Z’s upload foreshadowed the eventual deactivation of the account, and despite quickly amassing 100,000+ followers, Hov decided the photo sharing platform isn’t for him after a mere 14 hours.
