Janelle Monáe “Q.U.E.E.N.” ft. Erykah Badu

Janelle-Monae-Erykah-Badu-QUEEN

For her newest single, soul prodigy Janelle Monáe teams up with elder soul sister number 1, Erykah Badu, to let the naysayers and haters know a thing or two about queenship. The tune, “Q.U.E.E.N.” (appropriately titled) is the first track off of Monáe’s upcoming sophomore release Electric Lady. Known for her eclectic and defiant artistry, the youngster doesn’t deviate from her message as she sings (and raps) “My crown too heavy like the Queen Nefertiti. Gimme back my pyramid, I’m trying to free Kansas City.” And the addition of Badu on a track reminiscent of a mid-90’s Prince tune is the icing on the rebellious cake.
