HS87 “Scorn” ft. Audio Push, Hit-Boy, Kid Cudi & Kent M$ney
Hell Hath No Fury Like An Emcee Scorned
Kid Cudi and Hit-Boy join forces on “Scorn,” a fitting title for the former G.O.O.D. Music members/collaborators. In the past, the two have made it known they’ve taken on the role of the industry’s overlooked underdogs, and on “Scorn” they share how to roll with the punches.
Number 11 on the We The Plug tracklisting, “Scorn” paints a picture of pulling yourself through the muck of detractors, naysayers, and folks that will flat out laugh in your face when all you wanted to do was get out your dreams. Something like Herman Hesse’s Siddhartha, the emcees on the track— which include Price & Oktane of Audio Push, as well as Kent M$ney— aim to remind listeners to stay on that straight and narrow path.
If the message doesn’t stick enough, maybe the smooth, jazzy sounds of the track will take you to that place you need to be. Hit-Boy keeps it West with a nod to yesteryear and the sounds of folks like Digable Planets and Digital Underground— that melodic keyboard/sax outro coupled with that Shock G ad-lib, we see you fam— layered ever-so-smoothly atop Mount Kimbie’s “Blood and Form.”
