FrankieThaLuckyDog’z Best Underground Louisiana Rap From the Last 7 Years

When it comes to Louisiana rap, FrankieThaLuckyDog is a modern-day savant. And we’re not just talking about being able to recite Cash Money and No Limit Records’ respective rosters. The 26-year-old Pennsylvania native has an unparalleled knowledge of Louisiana’s underground scene. Yung Yola, Nu$$ie, DJ B-Real, BluBlack: these are just a handful of the names in Frankie’s rolodex of reviews.

Seven years ago, a sequence of events led Frankie to discover 23-year-old Jimmy the DJ’s Gangsta Gumbo Vol. 1 mixtape. 1,417 reviews later, including one of Kevin Gates’ All Or Nuthin’ (The Mixtape) in September of 2008, FrankieThaLuckyDog is celebrating the 7-year anniversary of his “Louisiana Connection.”

We hit up Frankie up to find out his favorite records he’s reviewed. He came back to us with a list of his top 10, coupled with a few sentences about why the record stands the test of time. So, without further adieu, here are FrankieThaLuckyDog’z favorite underground Lousiana rap records.
