Finally Daft Punk gets some love from the hip hop world. Beatmaker and producer Exile, most notably known for his collaboration with rapper Blu, works his MPC magic to pull a big bad wolf on Daft Punk’s “Doin It Right” with the help of MC Choosey.
Running Daft Punk’s signature synths and moody beats through the MPC ringer, the prolific producer huffs and puffs through chopped up fervor and fragmented vocal delays, until he finally blows the roof off. Soft-muted blares of percussion and horns, snares and vintage synths all dance spastically around like melodic particles exploding and ricocheting in space. SoCal rapper Choosey rounds out the rework etching in quick breaths of reverbed lyrics about those perfect summer days we hope never end. This might be the most creative (and dope) take on Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories you’ll hear this year.
