Allies turned to opponents yesterday as Dipset took on Fool’s Gold in a basketball game at Terminal 23, what MC Miss Info referred to as hipsters vs Harlem. Though camaraderie was high, each squad came to win, calling upon stars and ringers alike. Fool’s Gold tapped World’s Fair, its fearless leaders A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, and former UPenn player Dan Solomito. Dipset represented in full effect, with Dame Dash and Jim Jones suiting up while Freekey Zekey (wearing number 69) got his Bobby Knight on from the sidelines. Cam was decked out in full Dipset sweatsuit regalia, though never entered the game.
The game was played in two 16 minute halves with the Diplomats winning the tip-off and registered the first bucket on a Smoke DZA lay-up. Solomito kept Fool’s Gold alive throughout, raining threes and heckling the Dipset bench with each make. Despite trailing all game, team Fool’s Gold pulled even midway through the second half, leaving the outcome in the balance. In the end though, the Dipset squad hung on, pulling out a 45-39 victory. It was all back to love afterward, as both teams posed midcourt.
A-Trak and Cam’ron become teammates later this year on the collaborative EP Federal Reserve. Peep the first single, “Humphrey,” and count money in anticipation.
