Davey Gravy’s Amazing Hip-Hop Needlepoint Art

You probably thought that needlepoint was only for little old ladies with houses full of feline companions and adult diapers. But you’re wrong. Needlepoint can be cool and hip too! Just ask Canadian artist Davey Gravy.

Gravy uses needlepoint as his medium, stitching hip-hop and pop cultural references into his pieces. Everything from Gravediggaz lyrics to Mike Tyson’s pixelated likeness in the “Punch Out” video game gets rendered in pretty patterns that could hang next to the pictures on the wall and Grandma’s house.
