A few years ago, you couldn’t go two tracks without hearing your favorite rapper drop lyrical reference to the Cadillac Escalade. Benefiting from an easy-to-rhyme moniker and all-around appeal, the King of SUVs was seemingly standard-issue for every entertainer and athlete in the game. But as the rest of the brand took on an aggressive, angular design language, things seemed to fall by the wayside for the big-bodied hauler; until now.
Unveiled Monday night in New York City’s Altman Building, the all-new 2015 Escalade will begin production next Spring, be offered in both 2WD and 4WD configurations, and come equipped with a 6.2L V8 that Cadillac promises will be both powerful and fuel-efficient. While the trim materials have received a much-needed upgrade, the most striking revelation is the truck’s outward design. Big, bold, and in-your-face, the Escalade now sports the sharpness of its brethren, while maintaining the boxiness of a traditional, American SUV.
