The New Museum and non-profit group Art Production Fund have joined forces for round two of their acclaimed After Hours: Murals On Bowery project. Just like last year’s predecessor, After Hours 2 has gathered fourteen artists to paint murals onto storefront gates on Downtown Manhattan’s infamous Bowery street (between East Houston and Grand Streets). The premise is to give local artists a chance to create work that pays homage to the original creative spirit that the community was built on. The freshly painted gates will be on display every evening (after business closing time, of course) from April 25th to September 29th, 2013. Visitors can snag a map of the outdoor “exhibition” from The New Museum and learn more about each respective mural by tuning into a cellphone audio guide.
