Members of the BeyHive don’t need a reason to listen to anything from their Queen. The slightest whisper of a Beyoncé adlib sends them into a frenzy. However, while they’re frantically downloading a copy of Ms. Carter’s latest feature, they’ll be happy to know the purchase goes towards a good cause.
Teaming up with producer, singer and songwriter Boots (whom Beyoncé stans will recognize from his numerous contributions to her
carefully crafted and executed surprise self-titled album), Beyoncé lends her powerful vocals to the hypnotic track “Dreams,” which will appear on Boots’ forthcoming mixtape, A Day In The Life Of Jordan Asher. The proceeds from the sale of the song will go to Day One, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for teens at risk of dating abuse.
Boots took to his Facebook page earlier to let his fans in on the story behind the track:
So this is the last song on my mixtape. My friend and I recorded it recently and while we were trying to figure out what to do with it, we had an idea.
A while back I promised myself that if I ever had the opportunity to help others, or give back in some way, I would seize it.
A friend recently told me about a non-profit organization called “Day One” here in NYC. In their words, “Day One is the only organization in New York City solely devoted to the issue of teen dating violence.”
I feel that protecting women from these horrible and unthinkable acts should take precedence in our society. I feel passionate about this because if more women knew that safe places existed from the turmoil they experience, it could possibly prevent these situations from occurring or reoccurring.
Every cent made from this song will go directly to Day One
It’s hard to put into words how thankful I am for everything and everyone who helped get this together. I’ve experienced a lot in my life. Good and bad. But through it all, I’m certain every one of those things had to happen to get me right where I am today. I feel very fortunate for that. Thanks for all of your love and support.
Take a listen to “Dreams” below, and if you’re digging the song, make sure to purchase a copy.
