Feeling that previous promotions resulted in an outcome that “was far below our personal artistic standards,” Indie Rock duo Beach House, along with drummer Daniel J. Franz, hit the road for a little something different. “Forever Still” sees the band revisit four tracks from 2012’s Bloom, in an extended outdoor session, spanning from sunset to sunrise.
With its expansive Texas backdrop, the Beach House and Max Goldman co-directed clip was spurred on by a desire to reclaim artistic control of their output, eschewing some of the more recent internet-influenced musical trends. On the nearly 27-min, Pink Floyd-inspired short film:
We wanted to perform in a non-typical setting without losing the spirit of our music. We felt the songs would resonate in a more majestic and spiritual landscape. The experience was an intense three nights of filming. Everyone involved in production and crew was benevolent in their time and talented in their efforts. We were very lucky to have the help and hard work of many people who aided and lent their abilities to our vision.
Traveling from one outdoorsy destination to the next, equipment in tow, Beach House play on as their dream pop melodies underscore a picturesque road trip.
