Barely Legal Detroit Teens Caught in the Act… of Writing

Three young ladies from the Detroit suburbs are set to be arraigned today after taking to local walls with pressurized acrylics and getting got.

The three have been charged with “malicious destruction of property” and could face up some serious jail time. The ladies, two 18 and one 20, could face up to five years in prison. In most cases, if a writer gets sent to the clink it’s probably for a piece worth getting locked up for. These young ladies, however, kept it pretty pedestrian with their efforts. They could possibly see the inside of the bing for lacing the city with the words “Izzy,” “bitch,” “fuck,” and the charming “Welcome to Detroit” on local walls.

Detroit is teeming with graffiti— the city’s walls, road signs, cars, churches, houses, historic buildings, are covered in it— which led to the creation of a graffiti task force helmed by the city’s police department. This is one of their first major cases.

More power to the girls and godspeed; they’re graduating and college bound.
