From the look of these kicks, it seems Michael Jordan is a Mary Shelley fan. That’s the only explanation we could think of to make sense of these “Frankenstein’s Monster”-themed beasts.
Fusing the Air Jordan 1 silhouette with features from the Air Jordan 14 is what gives these gems their unique characteristics. The 14 was released in ’98-’99, thus the “Retro ’99” portion of the shoes name, and saw its legendary status cemented when Jordan hit his famous “Last Shot” in them, winning his storied sixth title as a Chicago Bull.
The shoe comes equipped with a number of features from the Jordan 14: perforated tumbled leather side panels, eyestays and a toebox of suede, and the signature AJ14 heel panel.
Combining Jordan’s first and last sneaker (although he later returned to play for the Washington Wizards), the shoe is a true mashup of classics, and somewhat of a capsule of the “Michael Jordan” legend. The Air Jordan 1 Retro ’99 joints can be yours soon, as they’ll be hitting Jordan stockists this month, B.
