Adam Yauch Park Naming Ceremony in Brooklyn

Yesterday the City Parks Dept. renamed Palmetto Playground in Brooklyn after Adam Yauch, better known as MCA from the Beastie Boys, who grew up in the neighborhood and passed away a year ago today.

“Born and bred in Brooklyn the USA, they call me Adam Yauch but I’m MCA.” Yesterday, a day before the 1 year anniversary of his passing, Palmetto Playground in Brooklyn Heights was renamed Adam Yauch Park, in memory of the Beastie Boys member. Yauch grew up just 2 blocks away from the park and his family still lives in the neighborhood. Yauch died of cancer last year at the age of 47.

You can visit the park for yourself which is located at Atlantic Avenue at Columbia Place and State Street right off the BQE.
