Fashion is music and music is fashion. These days one does not exist without the other. Jay Z repeatedly shouts “Tom Ford” to make his album relevant, Kanye spends precious concert time reprimanding Nike and Rihanna endlessly Instagrams all the bags and clothes she’s gifted by an endless list of high-end designers. Musicians and clothing brands feed and exist off of each other. It’s a symbiotic relationship. All over the interwebs there are lists of most fashionable rappers and best album covers, but at the end of the day it don’t mean shit unless you can put the two together. Here’s who did it best.
Tyler, the Creator Wolf
Tyler made a “quarter of a million off socks,” so you know he’s got the streetwear game on lock. Ty Ty is especially awesome because he almost exclusively wears his own Odd Future clothing. He’s the ultimate brand ambassador and with Wolf he didn’t disappoint, fitting two outfits onto one cover! That classic Tyler striped tee and of course, the short-sleeved button up that he somehow transformed from nerd staple to streetwear chic. Also, cats.
Rome Fortune Beautiful Pimp
For Rome it was going to take a major look to detract attention away from the bare ass next to his shoulder. Donning an Adidas sweatsuit (that’ll never get old) layered with a leather vest he actually pulls it off. The album itself ain’t too bad either.
Big Sean Hall of Fame
Did Big Sean just layer Hood By Air shorts over leather pants? Wow. With a move like that, who needs a shirt? The black Timbs and shiny gold accessories are more than enough to entertain the eye.
2 Chainz B.O.A.T.S II: Me Time
Gold chainz will never go out of style. Ever.
Pusha T My Name is My Name
Yes I did just put three DONDA covers in a row. Sometimes it only takes a cool hat and some braids to look the flyest in the room.
Chance the Rapper Acid Rap
Tie dye and acid trips were a very big part of 2013 for me. Get hip.
Tyga Hotel California
Fashion is all about calculated risks. You can’t stand out if you never take chances. Here Tyga goes for the Cam’Ron pink fur Grammy outfit look that changed the game forever, but he ups the ante with a tiger and some very chill scenery. Is this what rack city looks like?
James Blake Overgrown
If you’re a guy wondering what to wear this winter, copy this look exactly. It’s perfectly understated and handsome. Just like Blake’s music.
Justin Timberlake 20/20 Experience
Very snazzy. Plus, proper eyesight is always stylish. It is very un-dapper to squint.
Juicy J Stay Trippy
JT brought the suit back so Juicy J could paint it. Trippy mane!
Soulja Boy Life After Fame
Mac Miller Watching Movies With The Sound Off
And if you just don’t have the money or time to keep up with all the trends, you’ll always have your birthday suit.
