For about a year now the two have been traveling throughout New York on weekly “photo missions.” Armed with nothing but their cameras, iPhone GPS and a getaway car, (and sometimes bolt cutters) Goldwatch and 13thWitness explored remote, desolate locations–often closed to the public–in search of the perfect image. A little breaking and entering for photography’s sake never hurt anyone, right? “The point [of the project] isn’t to break into places,” says Goldwatch. “The point is to explore places that people are afraid to go, or are told they can’t.”
In this first installment WATCHxWITNESS take a trip to Coney Island to capture dramatic images of its amusement park in the off season. For their upcoming missions they will explore the late night scene in the South Bronx, spend strange days in the Salton Sea and take to train yards of Tokyo.
“We ain’t hurtin’ nobody so stay the fuck out our bizness.” — Goldwatch
